Great Entrepreneurs at Powerlinx

Powerlinx Israel to nycWe were proud to host the New York City Economic Development Corporation and its World to New York – Israel program delegation.  Fifteen mature start-ups were selected from an applicant pool of 150+ companies who were vying for the opportunity to be ‘schooled’ by the NYC EDC on the benefits of establishing a corporate presence in New York City.

NYC EDC invited Powerlinx, along with other NYC tech players such as General Assembly, LivePerson, AppNexus and NY Tech Meetup to participate in the program which includes tours, education, and a chance to highlight their companies to investment firms and innovation labs.

A private luncheon on the 76th floor of the Empire State building at the Powerlinx office marked the mid-point in the three day program, and gave the delegates a chance to relax and catch their breath, while taking in the view, having a hearty meal and getting a solid first-hand understanding of the Silicon Alley tech scene.

They were greeted by Doron Cohen, head of CB Alliance and one of the founding members of Powerlinx, who gave an inspiring speech on Israeli entrepreneurship and crossing borders.  Beth Haggerty, CEO of Powerlinx, followed up with a presentation of her experiences of working in both Silicon Valley and Silicon Alley, and noted the amazing evolution of New York City today as a vibrant hub of start-up innovation and technological development.

Each of the participants had the opportunity to speak one-on-one with both Beth and Doron, as well as co-mingle with Powerlinx and CB Alliance representatives.  Taking photos of the amazing view was, of course, on their agendas as well!

Each of the start-ups is a formidable concept and business, and you can look forward to many of them being profiled in our series, “Businesses We Love.” We look forward to hosting many more luncheons and sessions with the NYC EDC as they continue to promote New York City as a destination location for tech companies, as well as fostering an entrepreneurial spirit for companies who are working to change the world.
